La Rinconada

La Rinconada Review

In a dazzling green-tiled courtyard, this fine restaurant specializes in steak and seafood. The arrachera is good and the camarones al mojo de ajo (shrimp with garlic and butter) are even better. Named after the corner building it occupies, the grand old restaurant has appeared in sundry Mexican movies and TV comedies.

We tried this place because of Fodors rec. It was delightful. However, as with most tourist establishments in Guadalajara, very few people,
We ordered the shrimp with butter (no shrimp with butter and garlic as described in review) and filet mignon. Both were delicious. The filet arrived rare when I had requested medium rare but they quickly corrected it. The vegetables (steamed choyote and carrots ) were simple but very good. The Flan ( Creme Caramel ) was great.
The bill ( about US$30.00 for two ) was a bargain.
The building is a former colonial mansion and delightful.
