Templo Expiatorio

Templo Expiatorio Review

The striking neo-Gothic Church of Atonement is Guadalajara's most breathtaking church. Modeled after Italy's Orvieto Cathedral, it has phenomenal stained-glass windows—observe the rose window above the choir and pipe organ. Fronted by a large plaza, the church is backed by the Museo de las Artes de la Universidad de Guadalajara.

The noon Mass on Sunday is beautiful--as close to my childhood Latin Masses as one can get these days. More than one priest, lots of incense, beautiful music in Spanish and Latin, and the church IS breathtaking. Afterwards, check out the artisans in the plaza in front of the church.
