Guadalajara's sights are divided into five major areas. Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque, and Tonalá are the four primary municipalities. With the exception of Zapopan, they can each be navigated on foot in a few hours, though they deserve at least a day. Zapopan requires more time since it's a sprawling suburb with plenty of shopping and high-end hotels quite a distance from old downtown.
Zona Minerva, the fifth area, is due west of the Centro. Hopping between its shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants is best done by cab. Sample this district by strolling down the Avenida Juarez-Avenida Vallarta corridor, which is shut to vehicular traffic from 8 AM to 2 PM every Sunday.
