Guadalajara Hotel Reviews
Choosing a place to stay is a matter of location, price, and comfort. Tourists are often drawn to the Centro, where colonial-style hotels are convenient to the historic center and other sights. But hotels in the center tend to be a bit run-down, and don't offer the amenities available at those further west. Businesspeople and those looking for more modern digs head for the area around Avenida López Mateos Sur, a 16-km (10-mi) strip extending from the Minerva Fountain to the Plaza del Sol shopping center, or Avenida Americas in Providencia, where they can take advantage of newer facilities and four-star comforts. Several hotels, like the polished Hilton, are near the Expo Guadalajara convention center.
Tourists often opt to stay in colonial-style hotels in the Centro, which is convenient to many of Guadalajara's sights. For a lovely stay in the historic district of Guadalajara, the refined and quiet Hotel de Mendoza is your best bet. But Guadalajara is a sprawling city, so chances are you'll have to take taxis or public transportation at some point regardless of where you stay during your visit. Modern business hotels in the Providencia, Plaza del Sol, and Minerva neighborhoods beckon both work and pleasure travelers alike. For a real treat, stay at the plush Quinta Real near Fuente Minerva.
