Casa Mexicana Review

A dramatic staircase leads up to this hotel's windswept lobby, and distinctive rooms are decorated in subtle blues and yellows. Some face the ocean and Avenida Rafael E. Melgar; others overlook the town's rooftops and trees behind the hotel or the indoor terrace where breakfast is served. Splurge on a waterfront room if you can, as the balcony is a great place to hang out and enjoy the sea view and malecón scene. Rooms have bathtubs (hard to find downtown) and are immaculate and comfy. The rate includes a full breakfast buffet with Mexican and American fare, and the lobby bar overlooking the street is a great place for sunset drinks. There isn't a more efficient, pleasant place to stay in San Miguel, and the rates are surprisingly low for all you get—large rooms, balconies, free Wi-Fi, and breakfast. It's popular with visitors doing business on the island and return guests who prefer walking to everything they need. Two sister properties, Hotel Bahía and Suites Colonial, offer less expensive suites with kitchenettes (the Bahía has some ocean views; the Colonial is near the square).
