This smallish pierside resort is a comfortable choice, with large condo-style rooms equipped with dining tables and kitchenettes. Most rooms overlook the ocean, though you may have to crane your neck around the massive cruise ships parked in front to see it. The lobby and a small pool area separate the two buildings, one facing a generous beach and the other above a smaller patch of sand bordering a shallow saltwater lagoon with a waterfall and a temazcal (outdoor
sauna) on a small lawn. For a newer room, request the Torre, or tower. The Puerta Maya cruise pier and shopping center is next door.

Stayed at the El Cid May 2012, I we (husband and friends) are returning April 2013. Outstanding place for the price. Very clean, food and drinks are good, pool and the grounds are well taken care of. One thing I must straighten out the cruise ships are NOT in front of the hotel they are docked too the left of the hotel and don't block your full view of the ocean.Great to watch the ships coming and going with a nice cup of coffee in the morning or
a nice glass of wine in the evening.Great drive shop on the hotel grounds we book 6 drives. El Cid la Ceiba staff will take good care of you..
