Pepe's Grill

Pepe's Grill Review

This nautical-themed eatery has model boats, ships' wheels, and weather vanes covering the walls—appropriately so, since it's popular with the cruise-ship crowds. The upstairs dining room's tall windows allow for fantastic sunset views. The chateaubriand, T-bone steaks, and prime rib please American palates, though the meat isn't up to steak-house standards. Long waits for tables aren't uncommon.

I went to Cozumel for a wedding and we took a group of people to PEPE's in downtown cozumel. We thought we would get some great food. Most of the food was OK. My wife ordered a steak filet. It was priced at about $30.00, so you expect to get a good cut of meat. When she received it, it was cold and was really a bad cut of meat. We sent it back and they grilled the same piece and brought it back. At this point my wife didn't want anything after the hassle. Our waiter was cooking some food at the table ad another manager came out to see what food to take off the bill and our waiter spoke in spanish to the manager and insulting my wife. They didn't know that my wife understands spanish. I was disgusted that they think Americans are idiots when we are the ones that come down there to enjoy the island and pay for their salary. The rest of the waiters there were great but the main two, should be fired for their rudeness. I will never set foot in the restaurant again.
I hope this review get back to them, because I would love to talk to the owner. I have photos of this waiter that insulted my wife. Please contact me at bhendo99@yahoo.com. Stay away from PEPE's McDonalds down the road would give you better service and not insult you.

I had a pretty good time at Pepe's, but the food was so-so, overpriced, very touristy, the roving band was annoying. Would not go back, especially after eating at all the great restaurants Coz has to offer.
