La Choza
La Choza Review
Locals get together for breakfasts of migas (scrambled eggs with bits of bacon and tortilla) and the daily lunchtime comida corrida, a set-priced meal of the day with a choice of appetizers and entrées. Favorite dishes include pollo con mole poblano (chicken in a smooth, earthy chile sauce) and chile relleno de camarón (chile stuffed with shrimp). Leave room for the chilled avocado pie.

We've eaten almost everywhere in Cozumel for the past 8 yrs but had never been to La Choza. All the locals recommend it as the BEST Mexican food. Doesn't look like much on the outside. Went there Apr 28 & OMG! Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, decorations, music, friendly...it has everything & priced reasonably.can't wait to go back in June

We went to La Choza for lunch just four days ago on Christmas Day. We decided to share a fajita (chicken) dish. It was delicious. But the surprise was the salsa! The salsa appeared to be a yellowish, shall I say, mustard-based type, but upon questioning the proprietor, found it has no ingredient related to mustard! It was THE BEST salsa I have ever had, with a pungent garlic/pepper flavor, and hot, but not overwhelming. Never will I feel the same toward the very ordinary red salsa. I shall try to replicate the La Choza type. If no luck, I'll just have to make a return visit to Cozumel soon. -

I only had breakfast and lunch here, the food is fairly authentic, but not incredible, it is a little shabby, and the prices are not that low, except I found the breakfast to be reasonable.
