La Joya Review

The dramatic interior of this restaurant has three levels of stained-glass windows, a fountain, artwork, and beautiful furniture from central Mexico. The food is traditional but creative. The grilled beef prepared Tampíqueña-style is especially popular, as is the catch of the day wrapped in maguey leaves. Those with lighter appetites will want to try the tortilla soup or seafood appetizer of shrimp, scallops, and squid. Performances (Wed.–Fri. 7:30–8:30 pm) by folk dancers and a mariachi band add to the ambience. There's also a cocktail lounge where you can have a drink or cigar before, or after, dinner.

    Great food, alright value.

The food here is expensive, but you won't feel cheated. We went during slow season, so the atmosphere may have been a little down for that reason.

    Good Dinner Show

The Mariachi band here is excellent and the service was quite attentive. The food was about as good as it gets in Cancun (I had to lower my expectations). But all in all an entertaining evening.
