Fodor's Review

Luxury lovers will feel at home in this distinctive all-suites hotel, which boasts both an award-winning restaurant (Le Basilic) and Latin America's largest spa (the 40,000-square-foot Gem). Stained-glass skylights, mahogany furniture, and stunning floral arrangements ornament the elegant lobby. The "W" shape of the hotel means all rooms have ocean views in addition to marble floors, sunken living rooms, and infinity balconies; upgrading to the Grand Club Level gets you private check-in, an open bar, beach service, breakfast, and appetizers throughout the day. The beach here is calm and quiet since the neighboring lighthouse and jetty cut the current and minimize motorized water sports. Note that the hotel's sheer size may seem daunting, but guests are well attended to by multilingual concierges.

Pricey But Outstanding

This place is GREAT! The beach has to be the best in Cancun. It is safe, clean, beautiful and no peddlers. The pool is great but a little cool. The restaurant by the beach is also pricey but the food, service and atmosphere are the best! Everyone that works at this hotel must be trained well in the art of customer service because they all practice very well. We are very picky, but could find only one complaint. No mexican food unless you wanted to

sit through and pay for a show also. We were not interested. The cafe in the lobby also needs to have large muffins in the morning, not just in the afternoon!?!? If the price does not scare you away, you will enjoy this place.

Cancun is a dump and over priced. Food is extraordinarily expensive and with a few exceptions very poor quality. Save yourself a major disappointment and go to Hawaii.
