Sweeping grounds and arched walkways that lead up to the six-story building will make you forget you're at a Marriott. The lobby has large windows, elegant chandeliers, and small sculptures throughout; rooms have private balconies, flat-screen TVs, and marble floors. The secluded gardens and beachfront gazebo are ideal for weddings, as is the small chapel added in 2010. For a $30 fee, guests can enjoy the spa of neighboring JW Marriott, where amenities include chocolate body wraps and cornhusk exfoliations. The kids' club costs an additional $35 per day; the fee includes lunch, supervised swimming, and cultural programs.

Heavenly Beachside Retreat
Don't be fooled by the name; this Cancun branch is far removed from the predictable Marriott mold. More culturally traditional than most Marriotts, the six-story resort is back-lit by the Caribbean's powdery-white beaches and turquoise waters. The lobby is breathtaking, with its marble floors and arched walkways opening onto sprawling grounds and infinity pools that seem to meet the sea. The best way to embrace Mayan tradition is by visiting CasaMagna's 35,000 square-foot spa where you can experience a cocoa-bean massage, ground-corn exfoliation, or chaya-leaf detoxification. There are even specialized spa treatments for men, golfers, couples, and teens. With five restaurants and access to the neighboring JW Marriott, by way of a glass bridge, you may want to extend your stay indefinitely.
