Valle de Guadalupe
Getting Here and Around
If you're not on a tour, a private car (or hired taxi) is essential for touring the wine country. West of the town of Francisco Zarco (also called Guadalupe), the road is paved past Monte Xanic and the small village of Porvenir; after that, it is mainly gravel. The turnoffs for the major wineries are well marked; if you're looking for a smaller destination, you may end up doing a few loops or asking a friendly bystander. The general area is not too spread out; still, you will need to drive from one winery to the other. You can arrange a half- or full-day tour with many of the taxi drivers in Ensenada, and some drivers in Tecate may also be willing to take you.
