Tecate
Getting Here and Around
Tecate is small and easy to navigate. Highway 2 becomes Benito Juárez as it passes through town. Follow Calle Cárdenas straight out of town to the U.S.-Mexico border. If you're heading south to Baja, there's rarely a delay at the San Diego-Tijuana border, and crossing at Tijuana allows you the scenic drive down Highway 3. Northbound travelers, however, might opt for the Tecate crossing, as multiple-hour backups are not uncommon heading north into the United States from Tijuana. Even the Tecate crossing can get crowded in the early morning, however.
