Fishing

Fishing put Loreto on the map. You can catch cabrilla and snapper year-round; yellowtail in spring; and dorado, marlin, and sailfish in summer. If you're a serious angler, bring tackle. Some sportfishing fleets do update their equipment regularly. All Loreto-area hotels can arrange fishing, and many own skiffs. Local anglers congregate with their small boats on the beach at the north and south ends of town.

The Baja Big Fish Company, which specializes in light tackle and fly-fishing, has packages from the United States that sometimes include free hotel nights and fishing trips from Loreto.
