If you need to call the police, choose the tourist police (in white shirts and black shorts) instead of the city police (in blue uniforms), who are sometimes less than scrupulous. Hospital Magallanes is the best choice should you need emergency medical care. For less serious needs, your hotel may have an on-site doctor. The Costera strip has several pharmacies.
