Vulcano Lodge Review

This lodge amidst a coffee plantation has well-tended gardens strung with hammocks for afternoon naps. The tastefully decorated rooms are on the small side, but they all have private terraces. Alas, there are no views of the lake. The restaurant (¢–$) serves up international favorites.

Best view of Lake Atitlan and volcanoes

We've been to Vulcano Lodge four times now and it just keeps getting better. We book the two bedroom suite which has a stunning view of the lake and the volcanoes and offers a huge living room and outdoor sitting area looking down on gardens and pathways. During our four days there this July, the hosts arranged a guided hike, a private boat tour of the lake, a visit to the nature preserve, and a 1/2 day tour of the textile collectives in San Juan which is a beautiful and colorful pueblo on the lake about a 20 minute boat ride from Jaibalito. We ate four dinners at the hotel and were impressed with the preparation, the presentation and the food itself. Great atmosphere, great room, great food, great time. We'll go back again.
