Guatemala City Marriott

$$$-$$$$, New City

User Rating: **** 3.6

Fodor's Review:

Although its facade won't win any awards, this hotel does earn points for its excellent location not far from the Zona Viva. The lovely lounge offers rest to the weary; relax with a cocktail in one of the comfortable armchairs as you listen to jazz. You can always head to the Cabaña Club, a spacious spa and sports facility. Rooms are nicely furnished and each has a small balcony with a view of the city. Pros: chain amenities. Cons: several blocks to Zona Viva.

Nothing Complimentary at the Marriott

Posted by rocketmike from Greater Philadelphia Area on 12/29/06

We stayed at the Marriott Guatemala City for four days over this New Years. I travel a lot for business so I've developed a keen sense of what's good for travelers in hotels, and what is not. Most people may or may not know that Marriott charges you for everything, including internet connection, the coffee in your room for your two cup percolater that sits in your bathroom, and just about everything else. It's no Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn. Though it's a very luxurious place, the hoteliers forgot the one principal is that they should consider the travel needs of their guests and not gouge them from the get go.
