Chiminos Island Lodge

Chiminos Island Lodge Review

Archaeologists speculate that Punta de Chimino was once the retreat of Mayan nobility. Beautiful cabins are scattered along the peninsula's edges, with private views of the lake and the jungle beyond, and will let you live almost like nobility, at least for these parts. Rooms have hardwood floors and screened walls that keep the jungle near and the insects at bay. Delicious meals using local ingredients are served in an open-air restaurant ($). Tours of nearby archaeological sites for both the hearty and the delicate are included. Transportation (a 1½-hour boat ride) is arranged from Sayaxché.
