Money Matters
Banquetzal has an office where you can exchange U.S. dollars and traveler's checks, on the north side of Parque Central. It stays open weeknights until 7 pm and weekends until 1 pm. You won't have a problem finding ATMs in Antigua. The Bancared system, with a machine near Parque Central, has one that accepts Cirrus- and Plus-affiliated cards.
All the larger towns in the Western Highlands have ATMs where you can use your bank card. Bancared has branches in Panajachel, Chichicastenango, Quetzaltenango, and Huehuetenango.
