Money Matters in Antigua and Western Highlands

Banquetzal has an office where you can exchange U.S. dollars and traveler's checks, on the north side of Parque Central. It stays open weeknights until 7 PM and weekends until 1 PM. You won't have a problem finding ATMs in Antigua. The Bancared system, with a machine near Parque Central, has one that accepts Cirrus- and Plus-affiliated cards.

All the larger towns in the Western Highlands have ATMs where you can use your bank card. Bancared has branches in Panajachel, Chichicastenango, Quetzaltenango, and Huehuetenango.
