By Air in Antigua and Western Highlands

The nearest airport is Guatemala City's Aeropuerto Internacional La Aurora, a little less than an hour's drive away. If your hotel does not offer a transfer from the airport, there are plenty of shuttle buses that run this route.

There is no scheduled air service to the highlands. The Guatemalan government is retooling dormant airfields in Quetzaltenango (AAE) and Huehuetenango (HUE) at this writing, with plans to restore one-time domestic-air routes from Guatemala City. No date has been announced for resumption of such service. For now, Adrenalina Tours in Quetzatenango and Antigua charters air service between Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango.
