Getting Here and Around

If you drive one hour south from Puerto Jiménez, be prepared for a bumpy ride and a lot of river crossings. In rainy season cars are sometimes washed out along rivers to the ocean. Most hotels arrange transportation in 4WD taxis or their own trucks. The cheapest—and the roughest—way to travel is by colectivo ($8), which leaves Puerto Jiménez twice a day (at 6 am and 1:30 pm). Buses do not serve Cabo Matapalo.
