Upriver from the beach on exquisitely landscaped grounds, this upscale yet very affordable hotel is awash in clouds of terrestrial orchids and aflame with bright bougainvillea and hibiscus. Standard rooms are in adobe-style cabinas with cane ceilings and ceiling fans, and have white-tile bathrooms. Superior rooms are larger and have a/c. The newer junior suites have king-size beds, cable TV, and air-conditioning—a must, since those cabinas bake in the sun. Four suites
also have whirlpool tubs. Every room has a private porch screened with mosquito netting and furnished with bamboo chairs, and most have hammocks. Plants and elegant table settings fill the thatch-roof restaurant, notable for its excellent seafood at reasonable prices. A luxurious pool has a swim-up bar and handsome teak pool furniture. There's a playground and mini-golf for kids, and a spa and tennis court for grown-ups.
