Villas Gaia Review

Conveniently just off the highway, these spacious, tasteful villas owned by a Dutch couple are hidden behind a ridge overlooking forest ravines leading to Playa Tortuga. All the villas have air-conditioning, handsome wood furniture and breezy terraces with ceiling fans. A luxurious house has air-conditioning and satellite TV. The sleek and modern restaurant, with chandeliers made of interlaced mangrove roots, has an eclectic and creative menu ranging from Mexican to Thai. There's also a breakfast terrace under tall palms and a lovely bar by the pool where you can enjoy ocean views and breezes. The pool also has comfortable, contoured teak lounges for sunbathing. A forest trail leads from the villas down to the beach, where you can swim safely. The hotel happily arranges horseback, mangrove, and sea-kayaking tours. Eco-conscious visitors will appreciate that the hotel earned four out of five leaves in the Sustainable Tourism program.
