Hotel Rincón de San José Review

This elegant little inn has comfortable guest quarters in a charming neighborhood near the Parque España and incorporates environmentally friendly practices into its operations. Never mind that the interior looks more European than Latin American. (It was once called the Hotel Edelweiss, and people still refer to it by its old name.) Rooms have carved doors, custom-made furniture, and small bathrooms. Most have hardwood window frames and floors; several have bathtubs. Rooms in a newer wing echo the style of the older ones, but they lack some of the accents. Complimentary breakfast is served in the garden courtyard, which doubles as a bar. The owners speak German and Dutch, in addition to the requisite English and Spanish. An active recycling program along with use of biodegradable products make this one of the capital's environmentally conscious lodgings.
