The diva of San José's Italian eateries, this little restaurant occupies a lovely adobe house built in 1817. The extensive menu, focusing on modern Italian cuisine, ranges from saffron penne with New Zealand mussels and risotto with artichokes and bottarga (a dry Italian caviar) to roasted stuffed pheasant with polenta. No one disputes that the quality of the food is high—with prices to match.
