$$-$$$, French, San José
Fodor's Review:
Long one of San José's most popular restaurants, L'Ile de France, in the Hotel Le Bergerac -- it's technically a separate business -- has dining in a tropical garden courtyard. The fairly traditional French menu has some interesting innovations. Start with the classic onion soup or with pâté de lapin (rabbit liver pâté); then sink your teeth into a pepper steak, broiled lamb with seasoned potatoes, or corvina in a spinach sauce. Save room for the profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream and smothered in chocolate sauce. L'Ile de France blends exactly the right level of intimacy, grace, and style, giving it an edge over the sophisticated Chandelier.
