The road from San Vito to Paso Real is equally scenic, traveling along a high ridge with sweeping valley views on either side. As you descend, the wide valley of the El General River opens up before you, planted with miles of spiky pineapples and tall sugarcane. Sadly, the formerly perfectly paved road is now pitted with potholes. But if you pick your way carefully, the scenery is still worth the drive.
