Fodor's Review:

In deference to Lola, the owners' pet pig who freely roams the beach, the menu at this hip beach café is heavily vegetarian. Seating, or more precisely, lolling is all on the sand. The low driftwood tables, reclining wood chairs, and colorful throws and cushions slung around the beach recall a Roman-style beach banquet. Along with the fresh-fruit smoothies and vegetarian pizzas of past seasons, the menu includes organic chicken, mushroom crepes, and "responsible fish" (fish caught in nets that don't also trap turtles). Seared ahi tuna with sundried tomato and olive tapenade served on ciabatta bread is a winner, as are the delectable fries served Dutch-style with garlic mayonnaise. You can arrange in advance for private beach dinners by candelight (the pig isn't invited).

First, some bad news. Lola has gone to the little piggy place in the sky. Now, some good news. A new Lola is expected in the next 60-90 days. We loved Lola's! Whether you drive there or walk along the beach from the nearby Marriott (we did both) Lola's appears out of nowhere like an oasis. Where else can you sit among the palms watching the surfer's life unfold before you while dining on spectacular food, drinking wonderful beverages and maybe get a one hour massage? Only at Lola's. We had ceviche, ahi appetizer, and pizza. All were spectacular. And I'm not kidding about the massage. Only one therapist was available that day and we soon realized why. It was her day off and she spent it at the beach at Lola's with her gorgeous family living the life. Can't wait to go back to CR and back to meet the new Lola.

We went there on a recommendation from another guest at our hotel on vacation last week. It was not easy to find, but worth it! The setting is pure Robinson Crusoe! Beautiful setting, clean, great seats, fun attentive staff and delicious food and drink. We could have stayed for hours taking it all in. Beach, palms, surfers!!
