Although this combination pub and restaurant serves the full contingent of Mediterranean cuisine, we like to visit the place for drinks and Spanish-style tapas (appetizers). The century-old redbrick house with stained-glass windows draws everybody from tie-clad businessmen to university students who have money to spend on something more upscale than run-of-the-mill campus-area bars. Groups liven up the large front room—the quieter, smaller back rooms maintain a bit more romance—and the staff hauls umbrella-covered tables out to the sidewalk on warm evenings.

Since moving to Costa Rica 8 months ago, my wife and I having eaten at Olio's on average of three times each month. The food here isn't gourmet, but its some of the best food you'll find in Costa Rica at a very reasonable price. Even our friends from NYC, Philadelphia and San Francisco have raved about this place. Olio offers great tapas and wonderful full meal.
