By far the most luxurious hotel in Costa Rica, the Four Seasons is extremely secluded (it's nearly 30 minutes from the main road). Service, provided by a cream-of-the-crop, bilingual staff, is faultless. The decor is tasteful and arty, if a little anonymous. Huge rooms have king-size beds, marble baths, and screened-in living-room terraces. The breezy 18-hole Arnold Palmer signature golf course has breathtaking views—and prices ($185 per round). The state-of-the-art spa is impressive but a little sterile. Dishes created at the dinner-only Di Mare restaurant are worth their wildly expensive price tags, but the rest of the hotel's food has been disappointing.

What a delight staying at the Four Seasons Peninisula Papagayo. It exceeded any expectations we had. Heavenly is an understatement. The service alone would bring us back in a heartbeat. Only con was food/drinks are a bit overpriced.

This Guanacaste and currently only Four Seasons property in Costa Rica boasts impeccably perfect well-manicured grounds with top-notch service offering every indulgent amenity you can imagine. However, it feels more or less like any resort catering to the travelers keen on golf and beach, given its rather disappointing venues for local culture. Of all its guest offerings, tours, excursions, not one offered any "taste of Costa Rica." You are more likely to experience the real Costa Rica outside its gates through the FS "Ticos" staff where you can practice your Espanol.
Overall, like all FS properties, this Costa Rican haven is chock full of luxury and comfort and offers excellent service with discreet, private living quarters, especially in their 3 Bedroom Residence where we stayed. Friendly staff created wonderful in-residence breakfasts with last minute requests. Full service Kitchen/plunge pool and panoramic views of the Pacific bring this property over-the-top.
However, one alert for travelers interested in seeing the real Costa Rica, complete with history and culture, the FS could improve its custom explorations by just adding more venues genuine to its "Ticos" roots.
Still worthy of recommending, nonetheless.
