At most butterfly gardens around Costa Rica you get wet during the rainy season. (The mesh enclosures don't offer much protection from the moisture.) But that's not the case at the Cahuita Butterfly Garden, where a wood roof covers the perimeter of the 1,100-square-meter facility. The friendly owners conduct tours in English, French, and Spanish. There's a souvenir shop and small café that serves refreshments, as well as a lounge area outfitted with whimsical wooden chairs. (The owner is a sculptor.)
