North along the shore, Playa Guiones segues seamlessly into crescent-shaped Playa Pelada, where the water is a little calmer. There are tide pools to explore and a blowhole that sends water shooting up. Lots of trees provide shade. Local Ticos have staked out their claim to the surfing waves here and don't always take kindly to interlopers. This is also the locals' favorite vantage point for watching sunsets. Olga's Bar, a ramshackle Tico beach bar, is a great place for a cool beer; or sip a sunset cocktail at the funky La Luna Bar & Grill, next door.
