Owned by a Milanese member of Quepos's small but visible Italian community, La Lanterna has a healthy selection of pastas, seafood, and meat dishes, as well as 18 types of crunchy, thin-crust pizza baked in a wood oven. In addition to many Italian standards, the menu includes such treats as penne mare monti (with shrimp and Gorgonzola) and filetto pomodoro e olive (sea bass with tomato sauce and olives). Tables covered with white cloths are distributed along the sidewalk of this corner restaurant, and under ceiling fans indoors. A wide variety of international wines is available.
