Punta Islita is named for a tiny tuft of land that becomes an island at high tide, but the name is synonymous in Costa Rica with Hotel Punta Islita, one of the country's most luxurious and gorgeous resorts. The curved beach is rather rocky but good for walking, especially at low tide when tidal pools form in the volcanic rock. Another interesting stroll is through the small village, which has become a work in progress, thanks to a community art project led by renowned Costa Rican artists who use town buildings as their canvas. Everything—from outdoor activities to food—revolves around and is available through the resort.
