Parque Morazán

  • Address: Avda. 3, Cs. 5-9, Barrio El Carmen, San José

Fodor's Review:

Anchored by the 1920 Templo de Música (Temple of Music), a neoclassic bandstand that has become the symbol of the city, the largest park in downtown San José is somewhat barren, though the pink and golden trumpet trees on its northwest corner brighten things up when they bloom in the dry months. The park is named for Honduran general Francisco Morazán, whose dream for a united Central America failed in the 1830s. Avoid the park late at night, when a rough crowd and occasional muggers appear.
