There's one store just north of town, and several larger complexes to the south. The nicest is the Fábrica de Carretas Chaverri (Chaverri Oxcart Factory),and you can wander through the workshops in back to see the artisans in action. (Despite the name, much more is for sale here than oxcarts.) Chaverri is a good place to buy wooden crafts; nonwood products are cheaper in San José. Chaverri also runs a restaurant next door, Las Carretas (454-1633), which serves international meals all day until 6 PM and has a good lunch buffet.
