Much of the appeal of this bougainvillea-drenched bar-restaurant is its shaded location on Brasilito's beautiful beach. Some tables are practically on the beach, with the surf lapping just yards away, perfect for sunset drinks. The white-plastic tables and chairs are not up to the standards of the food and service, though. A small-vessel fishing fleet anchored offshore assures you of the freshness of the bountiful portions of seafood on the menu. If you have a reservation, a van can pick you up from Flamingo or Tamarindo hotels.

A spectacular place to enjoy the sunset! We rolled into El Camaron about an hour before sunset and took a table right where the restaurant meets the sand. The waiter immediately asked if we would like it moved onto the sand to be closer to the water. Wonderful drinks and a cigar for my husband followed. After settling in we enjoyed a beautifully presented grilled seafood platter that was overflowing with fresh fish and shellfish. We were both full and I think the platter cost approximately $22.00 US. Many little service extras like finger bowls overflowing with fresh flowers made this a memorable experience but frankly we would have been happy with the seafood platter and the sunset.
