El Café Liberia Review

Step back 150 years into one of Liberia's grandest mansions, complete with an original ceiling painting of cupids, doves, and garlands of flowers. Recently restored, this impressive house, with a music room and a courtyard garden, is now home to this upscale café and juice bar. The coffee, from the Tarrazú region, is excellent, as are the homemade soups, sophisticated salads, crepes, and sandwiches with a vegetarian focus—veggie burgers and goat cheese with pesto on ciabatta bread are favorites. Save room for home-baked cheesecake and other goodies. And if you happen by on a Thursday evening, you may catch a movie in the courtyard Art Cinema. It's open 10 to 8 Monday through Saturday; later during high season.
