Hotel La Finisterra Review
From its perch high above the southern end of Playa Hermosa, this classy, small hotel commands the best view of the beach and bay, along with the best terrace for watching sunsets. The excellent restaurant ($16), headed by a Venezuelan chef, overlooks the pool and the sea. It's popular with local expats, who come for happy hour from 4 to 5:30 to sip sunset cocktails, followed by macadamia-encrusted sea bass, perhaps, or seafood pasta. The restaurant is closed Wednesdays. Above the restaurant, contemporary rooms in pale yellow, orange, and green tones are simple but comfortable, with two doubles or one king-size bed, dressed with soft white linens. Large picture windows with screens let in evening breezes. Bathrooms have spiffy vessel sinks and all-glass shower enclosures. Rooms on the north side of the building have the best view, though the vistas from the common balcony and the pool area below are even more impressive.
