Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula Sights

Playa Bahía Junquillal (Junquillal Bay Wildlife Refuge)

Updated 04/14/2014

Fodor's Review

The warm, calm water makes this one of the best swimming beaches on the Golfo de Santa Elena. Stay for the day or camp out in the well-kept, shaded camping area with cold-water showers, bathrooms, grills, and picnic tables ($13 onetime park entrance for foreigners, plus $3 per person per night to camp). Compared to other camping areas in Costa Rica, prices are slightly steep since this is part of the Junquillal Bay Wildlife Refuge. You can snorkel if you've got your own

gear. Amenities: showers; toilets. Best for: solitude; swimming; fishing.
