Las Pumas Rescue Shelter
Las Pumas Rescue Shelter Review
Sad but sobering, one of the few places left in the country where you are guaranteed to see large wild cats, including a jaguar, is this animal rescue center (Centro de Rescate Las Pumas). The small enclosures also hold jaguarundis, pumas, margays, ocelots, and oncillas. Some small animals and birds are rehabilitated and released into the wild. The larger cats are probably here for life, as it's dangerous for them to be released. There's also a nature trail guests can hike, along the Corobici River. Admission is $10 and donations to the nonprofit foundation are welcomed. It's open daily 8 to 4.
