After a day on the beach, it's refreshing to retreat to this small hotel buried in a dense, cool garden on a breezy hill overlooking Sámara. There's a shaded swimming pool with a trickling waterfall and a cool whirlpool. Friendly German owners Manfred and Michaela run a tight ship, keeping the garden moisture out of the large, bright rooms housed in a two-story, white-stucco building. Breakfast comes with ocean views. The beach is a 15-minute walk through town. Everything

considered, this place is a hard-to-beat bargain.
