Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Isolina

Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica

This small hotel complex, a little island (isolina) of palm trees shading two pools, has basic and clean rooms with some of the best rates in the area. Red-tile roofs top rooms painted in cheerful yellow, orange, and tangerine. Stonework around the pools and a gorgeous garden create a pleasant oasis in the hotel's interior courtyard. Rooms are simply but adequately furnished with small dining areas and blue-tile bathrooms; larger rooms have kitchenettes, with microwaves, fridges, and coffeemakers; and the three villas, perfect for families, have two bedrooms and kitchenettes. Italian owned, the hotel has an alfresco restaurant for simple meals ($) that focus on pasta and fresh fish.
