Hotel Valladolid

C. 7 and Avda. 7, Heredia, Heredia, 40101, Costa Rica

The classiest hotel in downtown Heredia, this four-story narrow building first attracted business travelers and visiting professors at the nearby National University, although guests now are just as likely to be vacationers. Tile floors and white walls aren't exactly inspired, but the high, pressed-tin ceilings add a sense of space and some character. Bathrooms are bright and large, with hair dryers, and each room has a microwave oven and a mini-refrigerator. The hotel has an elevator and there's a wheelchair-accessible room. A bar on the top floor has panoramic views to go along with drinks and bocas, from 4 pm to midnight Monday to Saturday.
