Fodor's Review

Several blocks from the beach, near the more tranquil southern end, Amapola is a smaller, slightly tackier version of a resort hotel. It draws mostly families and retirees who appreciate that everything you need is on-site. A restaurant with room service, bars, a gym, and pool with waterfalls are among the facilities. Activities include billiards, foosball, air hockey, and volleyball. Rooms have terraces or balconies that open up to the center pool area and palm-filled

lawn. Accommodation options range from standard double rooms to villas with kitchens and a capacity for up to six people. The meal plan package costs only a bit more, but the food is mediocre, and better off-site restaurants are within walking distance. Although the attached casino is now closed, neighboring noise can be a problem on weekends.
