Fodor's Review

This mammoth multimillion-dollar resort in a palatial colonial-style building has a gorgeous view of Herradura Bay and combines modern amenities with traditional Central American decorative motifs, such as barrel-tile roofing and hand-painted tiles. Rooms here, though attractive and some of the country's most expensive, are nothing special compared with those at smaller hotels in the same price range. They have marble baths, wooden furniture, and tiny balconies. Be sure

to get one with an ocean view, or you'll be contemplating condos. An enormous pool with islands and swim-up bars, a Ted Robinson golf course called La Iguana, a modern marina, zip lining, and various diversions are designed to keep you on-site and entertained. The spa is one of the best in Central America.

One of the best hotels in Latinamerica

Extraordinary hotel in a unique location. I have attended a business meeting for 3 days and couldn´t be better for the purpose. The meeting rooms are great, the rooms are superb, food and service excellent, the pool is a paradise. I would return to Costa Rica with my family and would stay here again.

Great pool - no beach

This is a beautiful property in a not-so-nice town. The rooms were fine - what is really nice about this hotel is the exceptional pool - think lots of different smaller pools connected by shallow waterways and surrounded by lush landscaping and sunbathing iguanas. The service is fantastic. However, there are also lots of families with small children or teenagers running around. Plus the pool area is quite loud with organized water aerobics and piped

in dance/techno music. The nearby town of Jaco has a couple good restaurants - otherwise, don't waste your time.

Picure Perfect but no beach

This was a wonderful resort. Although it is typical with higher that average food and gift shop prices, the staff made our stay exceptional. The pool goes on forever which kept out 9 year old busy. He played American football everyday with the waiters, pool cleaners and any one else who passed by. Then they let him help on the sidelines with their daily staff soccer games. The food at the hotel is wonderful and every restaurant and the town is

close enough to have MANY dining options. Don't expect to have a beach vacation, the ocean is beautiful, but the beach is rocky and more sediment that sand. It doesn't matter because the pool seems larger than the ocean.

Wonderful resort to take you completely away!

Beautiful hotel with all the amenities. The Nuevo Latino restaurant was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and it ranks up there with some great restaurants in Los Angeles. The activities offered out of the hotel are exceptional. Just keep in mind that you can get much better rates for virtually every tour if you spend time to go into Jaco Beach. Same tours with the same companies but cheaper. Everything with the hotel was wonderful

except the prices for acitivities.

NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE!!!!!!!

The absolute hotel. A definate five star hotel. The food's a little pricy, but the best I've ever had. When you wake up in your room, you walk on the balcony and smell the sweet aroma of tropical rainforests. A huge pool outside next to the ocean. Kayaking and parasailing is also availible. It was the best vacation I ever took!!!
