On a hillside about 3 km (2 mi) from the beach, terraced Mediterranean-style privately owned (and rented) villas have impressive views. Villas on the upper levels have ocean views, and those on the lower level overlook the jungle, where you may spot monkeys, iguanas, and an array of birds. (Avoid units 1 and 2, which overlook the hotel next door.) Each room is decorated differently, but the predominant motif is tropical. Most have balconies, some of which are large enough to hold a table, chairs, and hammock. Narrow walkways wind through this tranquil property's lush grounds to the villas and blue-tile pool. During the high season a tiny restaurant by the pool offers breakfasts and light meals. All rooms here are nonsmoking.
