El Sano Banano Restaurant

El Sano Banano Restaurant Review

Freshly caught seafood, organic chicken, sushi, Thai dishes, pizza, and a half-dozen pasta dishes are included on the menu at Montezuma’s first natural-food restaurant. Named after the chewy, dried bananas made by the owners, who also own the upscale Ylang Ylang Beach Resort nearby, the popular eatery serves the best vegetarian fare in town, including Thai tofu curry and some excellent wraps and salads. On the terrace, which is the best people-watching spot in town, you can enjoy a delicious Mocha Chiller, made with frozen yogurt, or a fruit smoothie made with local coconut milk. The homemade cakes and pies are scrumptious. A battalion of ceiling fans keeps the air moving in the spacious dining room decorated with murals of tropical beach scenes. A free movie is shown nightly at 7:30-ish in the dining room ($6 minimum consumption)—don’t expect a romantic dinner during this time.
