The open-air, poolside restaurant of the exclusive Makanda by the Sea hotel has tables beneath purple-cloth tents overlooking the sea and surrounding jungle. The kitchen, cleverly hidden beneath the bar, serves up such succulent treats as grilled mahimahi with a ginger-passion-fruit glaze and beef tenderloin with creamy blue cheese and cognac sauce. Entrées come with a side of steamed vegetables and fried yucca. Pizzas, salads, and sandwiches are on the lunch menu. You'll want to put on insect repellent at night. Children under 12 are not allowed.
