Fodor's Expert Review Pachira Lodge

Across river from Sea Turtle Conservancy, Tortuguero, Limón, 70205, Costa Rica

This is the prettiest of Tortuguero's lodges, but not the costliest—the owners here market competitively and keep prices reasonable. Each almond-wood cabina in the lush, well-manicured gardens contains four guest rooms with high ceilings, king-size beds, and bamboo furniture. Renovated rooms are #89–94. The stunning pool is shaped like a giant sea turtle: the head is a whirlpool tub, the left foot is a wading pool, and the right foot is equipped for swimmers with disabilities. Package deals include transportation from San José, a jungle tour, and all meals. Spa treatments, a rarity up here, are extra.
